The 40710 loop analyser is used to interface the fire detection and alarm loop with a personal computer to test and commission the loop without using a fire alarm control panel. The 40710 requires an external power supply, which is connected to its 24V DC terminal. When used in place of the fire alarm control panel, the 40700 supplies a loop current of 500mA to power all connected devices for monitoring and addressing the devices. The user interface or application software on the PC allows scanning of the entire loop to identify devices and report open- and short-circuit faults, automatic sequential addressing of devices, and activation of sounders and beacons.
